Does young skin heal better than old skin? Here, we investigate young mouse skin and find a gene called Lef1 to be expressed in both the epidermis and dermis. Lef1 expression is lost during skin maturation. If Lef1 is turned on in adult skin fibroblasts, the developmental potential to heal better is restored.
